Swetha Ajit Kumar joined Devry Smith Frank LLP in 2025 as an associate in our family law department. She earned her LLB from the University of Leicester before being called to the bar in 2016.

Swetha is an experienced family law lawyer with a strong litigation background. Since her call to the bar, she has represented clients in a wide range of family law matters, including parenting time, child protection, domestic contracts, and property division. Her practice is rooted in strategic advocacy, practical negotiation, and a thorough understanding of both procedural and substantive issues in family law.

Swetha has appeared regularly before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice and has successfully argued emergency motions involving parenting time, urgent child protection matters involving Indigenous children, and uncontested trials. She also drafts marriage contracts, separation agreements, and opinion letters, and negotiates final settlements that reflect her clients’ goals.

Swetha has built extensive courtroom experience through motions, settlement conferences, and contested trials. Her litigation work has included securing non-removal orders, defending property interests, and obtaining favorable outcomes in complex custody disputes and child return applications. She has also drafted detailed facta in child protection appeals and successfully defended against appeals by children’s aid societies.
